Van Buren Senior Activity Center

Project Description

In 2012, City of Van Buren voters approved a 1% increase in their sales and use tax to fund a number of police, fire, and community projects. One of those community improvement projects is the replacement of the City’s Senior Activity Center. The Center consists of a new 12,300 square foot (SF) facility which includes a 2,300-SF storm shelter, fitness room, large dining area, and full service kitchen.

The City of Van Buren selected MAHG, Inc. of Fort Smith, Arkansas as lead consultant, and Hawkins-Weir served as a subconsultant to MAHG with responsibilities for the site/civil improvements. These improvements include a 66-space asphalt parking lot, covered drive through canopy, extensive on site drainage improvements, and improved fire protection.
