Project Description

Hawkins-Weir Engineers provided planning and design services for the reconstruction and widening of Phoenix Avenue West in the City of Fort Smith, Arkansas. This 5-lane, 2.2-mile arterial street project was partially funded by the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department, and therefore the plans and specifications were formatted to their standards. Services provided included determination and identification of real property acquisitions required for the project, alignment selection, design of street and drainage improvements, design of water and sanitary sewer relocations, and coordination with franchised utility relocations. This project was designed and constructed to minimize interruption to traffic flow along the existing street. Construction management and inspection for this project was provided by the City of Fort Smith Engineering Department.
